Urban cycling problem

  1. Has anyone else noticed that spectacles get horribly manky when riding
round the city? I have to wash them every couple of days to get the
    traffic film off.

Mine seem to get more dirty from my fingers when I change the lenses
to different coloured ones or whenever they get rained on then dry
    again.

I ended up using 2 pairs of specs. The old scratched ones for riding
which I don't mind soaping up and running under hot water to clean; the
good ones, of course, for less grimy pursuits.

I usually need to clean glasses after day. But then I live in the
    country ;-)

When the glasses are next cleaned of traffic film, try using a very
light spray of a furniture polish and rub it off with a normal
household duster .. keep the duster very clean. It seems the polish
fills the very small scratches and, for a while, restores the glasses
somewhat to a very flat surface which resists dirt and water etc.

Works for me, anyway .. ;)
