A couple of years ago I seem to recall reading a "Rohloff 2" (for lack of
a better name), which was going to have a slightly wider gear range, be
lighter and not be rated for tandem use. Does anybody else remember this
and/or know what if anything happened to it?

    Phew!

Almost worth the injury for a ride like that?

The PGHM officer explained that it was much easier and safer to get me
into the helicopter by winch. If you look at when helicopter comes in to
pick up the 2nd PGHM officer it is hovering with its rotor blades quite
close to the slope, so I can well imagine that trying to hobble across
to the pick up with one leg strapped up and trying not to have my
head chopped off would be very tricky!

Towards the end of being winched in we were spinning quite fast, I guess
it was enhanced by the effect of the downdraft and my outstretched leg,
so I decided to close my eyes and opened them again when I felt us come
to a halt adjacent to the cabin.
