I just received this post from someone who wants to join the cycling
    Yahoo! group I moderate.

I live in Greenwich, and have got back into cycling using the TfL hire
bikes in central London. Now I want to do more!

  2. I do wonder how many Boris bikers didn't otherwise cycle...

A good number, I would have thought. Those who would have cycled
anyway would have their own bikes and not need to hire one.

Of course, I may be wrong, but I hope not!

Surely you mean, "Nice one Boris!"

  7. I think for keen commuters they are unlikely to appeal. I don't often go
for pleasure to central london and bar the novelty value, I'm likely to
be on foot or to have come in by my bike.

wish it all the best though!

  8. Not necessarily. They may live hundreds of miles away from London, but
work in London and not have a folding bike for the train. Nor wish to
leave one locked up at one of the London termini. Having seen the daily
scrum for the London train at Peterborough there is no way people are going
to be able to get full-sized non-folding bikes on the train even if
    there were enough bike places.

If they'd been around when I was working in central London I'd have used
the Boris Bikes to get from Waterloo to the office. I'm claustrophobic
so the tube has never been an option for me and the bus during the rush
    hour can be a nightmare.

Or it could be that like me they live and work in London and have a folding
bike, but sometimes go where they can't leave the bike in a safe place.
