    Interesting article.

    I did stumble over this:

    | we lost 11 bikes in total, L40,000 worth of stock, ...

That's an average of L3600 per bike. They're hardly going to go for
that kind of amount in the "dodgy bloke in a pub" market.

Only if all the stolen stock was bikes. I'd expect some of it to have
    been clothing and accessories.

I don't know many proper bike shops where all of the stock is complete
    bikes.
So I would imagine that the total 40,000 included a considerable
    amount of other stock.
Give the atmosphere prevailing at the time, I suspect tools (or things
that could be used as tools) for breaking and entering would be
    popular, among other things.

Also, "lost" doesn't necessarily mean gone, it could just be damaged -
what's the residual value of a carbon frame (build into a complete
bike or not) that's been thrown through (or partly through) a plate
glass window, or even just trampled in the rush?

Still worth the police keeping an eye open for good quality bikes
being sold at sub-BSO prices in the area though.
